World Environment Day 2026 Observed at REC Hulkoti


RTE Society’s Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti, observed World Environment Day 2026 on 5th June 2026 with a meaningful programme aimed at creating awareness about environmental protection and sustainable waste management practices.

The programme was graced by Er. Anand Badi, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Environment Department, CMC Gadag-Betageri, as the Chief Guest. He is a proud alumnus of REC Hulkoti, having graduated from the Chemical Engineering branch in 2004. Sri Krishna Odugoudar, Principal, RPT Hulkoti, was the Guest of Honour, and Dr. B. N. Patil, Principal, REC Hulkoti, presided over the function.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Mr. Chandrakant Watawati, Head of the Department, and Mr. Satish C. J., Professor and Estate Engineer.

Addressing the gathering, Er. Anand Badi spoke about contemporary waste management practices, the challenges involved in waste management, public attitudes towards waste disposal, and emerging regulations in the field. He urged all participants to actively contribute towards effective waste management in order to reduce environmental pollution.

Mr. Chandrakant Watawati, Head of the Department, delivered the formal address and highlighted the impact of rapid urbanization on pollution levels. Sri Krishna Odugoudar spoke about the significance and theme of World Environment Day 2026 and appreciated the efforts of individuals working towards environmental preservation.

In his presidential remarks, Dr. B. N. Patil encouraged the gathering with the inspiring message, “Grow forests, save the land.”

The programme was anchored by Miss Soumya Hiremath. The welcome address was delivered by Jagadish V. M., and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Manohar Sankadal.

The event concluded with a strong message encouraging students, staff, and the community to take active responsibility in protecting the environment and building a cleaner, greener future.
