Five-Day Students Development Program on Revit Architecture/Structure

The Department of Civil Engineering, RTE Society’s Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti, in association with CADEM Innovations, Dharwad, organized a Five-Day Students Development Program (SDP) on Revit Architecture / Structure from 27th August to 1st September 2026 for the final-year students of Civil Engineering.
The programme was organized with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to Building Information Modelling (BIM) and developing their proficiency in Autodesk Revit Architecture, a widely used BIM software platform in the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
The construction industry is rapidly moving from conventional two-dimensional drafting methods towards integrated digital design and BIM-based workflows. Therefore, knowledge of Revit Architecture has become an important additional skill for Civil Engineering graduates aspiring to work in architectural firms, structural consultancy firms, construction companies and infrastructure organizations.
The training programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements through hands-on training, demonstrations, practical exercises and project-oriented learning.
Major Objectives of the Programme
The Students Development Program aimed to:
Introduce students to the fundamentals of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Familiarize students with the Revit Architecture software environment.
Develop practical skills in creating architectural drawings using Revit.
Train students in developing three-dimensional building models.
Training Highlights
During the five-day programme, students received systematic training covering the fundamentals and practical applications of Revit Architecture.
Day 1 focused on the introduction to Revit Architecture, its applications in the construction industry, the user interface, project browser, properties palette, navigation tools, basic drawing and modification commands, project units and project settings.
Day 2 concentrated on establishing the basic framework of a building model through the creation of levels and grids, walls, floors, doors and windows, along with their properties and modifications.
Day 3 focused on further development of building models, including multi-storey buildings, architectural components, staircases, railings, roofs, ceilings, section views, elevation views and various three-dimensional viewing options.
Day 4 was dedicated to architectural documentation and presentation. Students learned to create floor plans, elevations and sections, apply annotations, dimensions, text and tags, and prepare professional drawing sets for printing and exporting.
Day 5 involved project-based training, where students worked towards developing a complete building model. The sessions covered model checking, modification of building components, preparation of final plans, sections and elevations, 3D visualization, schedules, sheet preparation and the industry applications and career opportunities associated with BIM and Revit.
The programme was attended by the final-year Civil Engineering students and staff members of RTE Society's Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti. Students actively participated in the training sessions and carried out practical exercises under the guidance of Mr. Govind H. from CADEM Innovations, Dharwad.
