Inauguration Ceremony of Centre of Excellence – Drone Lab in Association with Skyraft Aerosolutions Pvt. Ltd.

R.T.E. Society’s Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti, organized the Inauguration Ceremony of the Centre of Excellence – Drone Lab in association with Skyraft Aerosolutions Pvt. Ltd. on 10th June 2026 at 11:00 AM in the COE Lab.

The dignitaries present on the dais were Shri Sachin D. Patil, Secretary, R.T.E. Society, Dr. V. M. Patil, Administrator, R.T.E. Society, Dr. B. N. Patil, Principal, Capt. Girish Odugoudar, Founder & Managing Director, Skyraft Aerosolutions Pvt. Ltd., and Mrs. Chandika.

The event commenced with the traditional watering of the plant by all the dignitaries. Dr. S. H. Angadi, Head of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of establishing a Centre of Excellence in collaboration with Skyraft Aerosolutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sachin D. Patil, Secretary, R.T.E. Society, stated that the Drone Lab has been established under the guidance of Capt. Girish Odugoudar, who is also an alumnus of the college. He said that Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti has tied up with Skyraft Aerosolutions to provide students with practical exposure to drone technology. He also mentioned that the lab will require active support from all departments and will help students enhance their technical knowledge.

Shri Sachin D. Patil further stated that drone technology will be adopted in almost every sector in the future. He announced that 15 students from each department will be selected to gain hands-on experience in drone flying and related activities.

The profile of Capt. Girish Odugoudar was read by Prof. Pooja N. M., Department of CSE. Floral welcome was extended to all the dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Girish Odugoudar explained how the idea of creating a drone ecosystem and a dedicated drone lab took shape. He emphasized that Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti is among the first colleges to establish such a drone lab. He explained that drone technology is useful in multiple sectors including agriculture, military, medical transport, emergency response, infrastructure, and civil applications. He expressed his hope that outgoing students would graduate with practical knowledge and skills in drone technology.

Capt. Girish also mentioned that the lab will help students understand drone design, fabrication, operation, and entrepreneurship opportunities. He appreciated Shri Sachin D. Patil, Secretary, R.T.E. Society, for his quick decision-making and support, through which the lab was set up within just 15 days.

On this occasion, Capt. Girish Odugoudar and Mrs. Chandika were felicitated. Another dignitary, Mr. Goudar, was also felicitated during the programme.

Dr. V. M. Patil, Administrator, R.T.E. Society, spoke about how the discussion regarding the Drone Lab became a reality. He urged both staff and students to make the best use of this opportunity and upgrade their skills.

In his presidential remarks, Dr. B. N. Patil, Principal, appreciated the initiative and stated that the Drone Lab will help both students and faculty members to upskill themselves. He also appreciated the eco-friendly and technology-driven vision behind the establishment of the Drone Centre of Excellence.

As part of the initiative, a drone flying and orientation programme will be conducted for students of all departments. The Centre of Excellence will support interdisciplinary learning involving Artificial Intelligence, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and other departments.

The programme was anchored by Mr. Chetan, VI Semester CSE, and began with an invocation song by Ms. Bhoomika.
