Industrial Visit to Tata Motors Pvt. Ltd., Dharwad

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti organized an Industrial Visit to Tata Motors Pvt. Ltd. Dharwad Plant on 06-05-2026 for the students of all semesters of Mechanical Engineering.

Upon arrival, the students were welcomed at the Tata Motors auditorium, where an informative session was conducted by Mr. Santosh Tavalageri, Senior Engineer, Mr. G. Hiremath, HR Manager, and Mr. Bhat, Product Line Manager. The officials provided detailed insights into the company’s history, products, establishment, production capacity, and ongoing activities at the Dharwad plant.

Following the introductory session, the students were divided into two batches and taken for a guided plant visit. During the tour, the students witnessed the advanced assembly lines of LMV and HMV vehicles, capacity planning systems, and one of Asia’s quickest assembly units. They also observed various automobile manufacturing and assembly sections including EV vehicles, buses, Ace trucks, and other commercial vehicle production lines.

After the plant visit, the students reassembled at the auditorium where the Tata Motors officials addressed them about career opportunities in the automobile industry, latest manufacturing tools and technologies, and current industry demands. An interactive feedback session was also conducted, during which students shared their learning experiences and observations from the visit.

The visit was accompanied by Mr. P. B. Dhotrad, Head of the Department, and Dr. K. R. Gangal, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The industrial visit provided valuable practical exposure to students and helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial practices in the automobile manufacturing sector.
