Expert Talk on “Beyond the Code” – A Roadmap to the Software Industry


The Department of Training & Placement, Rural Engineering College (REC), Hulkoti, organized an insightful Expert Talk on “Beyond the Code” on Friday, 14 August 2026, at the Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Mr. Vinay Kumar, Industry Expert, Bengaluru, with the objective of providing engineering students with practical insights into the software industry and emerging career opportunities.


The expert talk focused on helping students understand the evolving software industry landscape, decode various technology roles, identify essential industry-relevant skills, and build a clear roadmap towards successful careers in the technology sector.


During the session, Mr. Vinay Kumar highlighted the importance of going beyond programming and developing a combination of technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, adaptability, and continuous learning. He explained various career roles in the software industry and discussed the technologies and competencies expected from engineering graduates.


The session also provided students with a practical skills and career blueprint, connecting academic learning with real-world industry requirements. An interactive Q&A session enabled students to clarify their doubts and gain valuable guidance regarding career preparation, technologies, and opportunities in the software domain.


The programme was conducted under the Department of Training & Placement, REC Hulkoti, as part of its continuous efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry and empower students with industry-oriented knowledge and career readiness.
